There’s a famous story about the climax of Poltergeist: Craig T. Nelson has just shaken Landlord Banksman and yelled “You moved the headstones, but you didn’t move the bodies!” and everyone has run out of the house, which has come down with a pretty bad case of Ghost Lightning. Supposedly, the next line in the movie script is just “the house implodes.” It’s called the $250,000 sentence because that’s how much money it costs to make a model house implode with 1980s special effects technology.

I feel like “The Salvation Army of Darkness explodes” is my $250,000 sentence.

(I’m actually not sure on the exact figure, and Mona’s coffee table book about special effects is allllll the way in our library, and I am just too lazy to go look it up.)
